NEW YORK (December 9, 2008)—Pfizer Animal Genetics announced today the
hiring of Mark Allan, Ph.D., as Associate Global Director of Technical
Services. Dr. Allan joins the team with a rich background in and knowledge
of the animal genomics business. In his new position, Dr. Allan will be
responsible for working with the Global Director, Technical Services, with
technical support for the Pfizer Animal Genetics sales team, customers and
key industry constituents, as well as creating market awareness for the
current and future genetic marker technology portfolio.
“Dr. Allan brings a unique level of animal genomics experience to this
position,” says Dr. Ronnie Green, global director, technical services, for
Pfizer Animal Genetics. “His extensive research background and experience within
the purebred cattle industry will be invaluable to us in creating genomic
solutions for the livestock industry.”
For the past five years Dr. Allan has served as a Research Geneticist for the
United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service at the
U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Neb. In this position he
provided leadership in DNA mapping of production traits in beef cattle, with a
large portion of his work focused on feed efficiency and reproductive rate. Dr.
Allan earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln,
Neb.
